Matt and Naomi are Moving to Charlotte!

An update on our lives to those in prayer and support of us!  Thank you for taking the time to read and prayer for us.

How is Kona?

Kona has been so much fun!  There has been its challenges.  We’ve definitely been very busy!  I (Matt) Have more work to do than I have ever had, but it has been extremely rewarding and full of life!

Something we have both enjoyed is we have had many friends and family visit in the last month!  One of our best friends got married in march which brought a ton of our friends that have left in the past couple years back to the island.  It has been special seeing so many of our friends get married near the same time as us.  We are blessed to walk with multiple piers in so many ways!  Our community is amazing!

Students leave for outreach soon!  This will be my first time in over 4 years seeing students leave on outreach while I stay in Kona!  It is bittersweet as we both love the nations so much, but it has been well worth it taking on greater responsibility in serving the school and this base.  We are very excited for what our upcoming time in Kona holds as well as intentionally building towards our future!

A few newsletters ago we announced the news that our organization, Fire and Fragrance, made the decision to split from YWAM to greater serve the global body of Christ.  They feel that the best place to serve God from is Charlotte, North Carolina.

For us,

We have been praying and figuring out what this means for Naomi and I.  Our goal is still to move to Turkey, but have been struggling to understand the timeline for that.  We want to be at an extremely healthy place financially, spiritually and in our marriage.

We feel the best thing for us in our missional journey is moving to Charlotte first.  At the moment, we expect to move there by mid July.  Our plan is to sign a year lease, serving Fire and Fragrance as it pioneers its new base and builds itself into an independent missions organization.  We deeply believe in what God is doing through this split and know that working within this transition will create immense fruit for the kingdom of Heaven!  After our year lease, we believe God will then open doors to Turkey, but we will wait patiently and trust God in the process.

Our prayer requests

  • Pray for our students and coworkers as they go on outreach especially with what is going on in Iran.

  • Pray for Gods clarity as we ask for his direction over our lives.

  • Pray God would meet our needs through instability and transition.

Thank you for your continued prayer and support!  It means the world to us.

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us,”  Hebrews 12:1

Interested in our financial needs?

We believe that your prayers are much more valuable than financial support, but if you feel interested in giving we would love to talk to you about that more!
