Update from the McGinty’s!

During our wedding season, we got the chance to spend a lot of time in prayer for the future of our new family.  We believe God has spoken to us, and we want to share that!

Our Hearts

                              Matthew 28: 19-20

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.

Jesus has called every one of his followers to live as missionaries.  For most, that does not mean overseas vocational missions, but for every believer, it means God has given them a Mission.  For Naomi and I, we do not know where God is going to lead us for our entire lives, but we know he has given us a Mission:

  • Reach those with less access to the gospel

  • Prayer and Worship

  • Activating young people in evangelism and missions

Turkey

God has given both of us a deep passion for the people of Turkey.  It is a very unique country within the Muslim world and we believe God is doing something special there.  A few unique things about the country include

Christian History

- 2/3 of the New Testament are written to or in Turkey

- The 7 Churches of revelation

- Historically, the most persecuted Christian population.

- countless important historical moments including the Nicene council, formation of trinitarian doctrine in Cappadocia, and the birth of missions in Antioch

Stance on Religion

historical numbers of Muslims are leaving Islam!  During my time in Turkey I have met as many young Turks who claim to be atheists or deists than those who claim to be followers of Islam.  We believe it is an important time in Turkey for there to be more Christians preaching the gospel, so those who are leaving Islam will know they have another option!  The vast majority have never heard the gospel and don’t know they have another option!

Culture

Both Naomi and I have found it a challenging yet easy culture to fall in love with.  It is a culture with a lot of dignity, so they are not afraid to have serious conversations about anything including their faith.  They are very hospitable.  Many times I would walk up to Turks and ask what they are doing and they would invite me to join them for whatever they are doing!  It is  very common to sit in a coffee shop until late into the night talking about faith, playing games, and drinking tea!

We want to move to turkey!

We feel that God is calling us to spend some time living in Turkey serving what God is doing there.

When? our goal is to move in January 2027

Where? we are planning on joining a team of missionaries that launched from our base in Kona that are living in Istanbul.

How Long? We are not sure, but our goal is two years and to see where God takes us from there!

What will we be doing? We will be taking language learning classes, doing evangelism, and serving a team that has a lot of goals they are accomplishing including running a ministry school for Muslim background believers, planting a church, and hosting short term YWAM teams.

What will you be doing until then?  We are headed back to Kona in January continuing to serve with our missions organization as we prepare to launch.

Finances

1 Corinthians 9: 14

“In the same way, the Lord has commanded that those who preach the gospel should receive their living from the gospel.”

In order to continue in vocational missions as a married couple, especially overseas, we are working on reaching a sustainable level of monthly support.  Under the advice of our organization we have set a goal $4000 in monthly support to have before we launch next year.

Would you consider partnering with us?

If you are interested at all, we ask you to please reach out, we would love to hop on a call and share more of the vision and connect with you about it!

Thank you for your time!

We will be sending out an update about our recent trip to Turkey and sharing some of our favorite testimonies in Central Asia, so keep an eye out!
